Artist Bios
Meet the artists! Here you'll find the biographies of each artist whose works have been on display at Frame Gallery.
Exhibit
Susan Lane
Susan has painted off and on for years, but she had never had such an amazing teacher as Martha Keeble with Sewanee Art Works. They met at Bonnaroo 10 years ago. Susan has learned so much from Martha and has been painting ever since!
Laura Lapins Willis
Laura is a writer and editor who has lived in Sewanee since 1991. She started classes with Martha in 2018 writing religious icons. She now paints a full range of subjects.
Leslie Lightfoot
Leslie has created mixed media art (paper, paint and collage) on her own, but the Sewanee Art Works exhibit at Frame Gallery marked her first year of participating in a painting class. Martha’s encouragement and generosity in sharing her knowledge makes for a wonderfully supportive and fun community at Sewanee Art Works. I love creating with bright colors, texture and floral themes.
Barbara Dwyer
After decades of working in the fields of clinical social work and higher education, Barbara embarked on a new journey. It began with a simple bucket list item: to paint a picture she would be willing to frame and hang in her own home. Today, Barbara’s art is hanging in homes across the US. Her preferred mediums are both oils and acrylics. She moves between abstract, traditional and impressionistic styles. She views herself as a continual work in progress. Barbara hopes her art means something to those who view it., because it means the world to her.

Randa Wells
Tracy City, Tennessee
Randa Wells’ busy life as a nurse, wife, mother of two, Girl Scout leader, room mom, choir member, and more left little time for a dream of escaping into the art that filled her mind.
Years went by, and Wells would sneak in an occasional painting class into the tiny slivers of her open time. Memories of childhood Saturday art classes at The Toledo Museum of Art struggled to the surface.
When the Covid arrived, her husband’s health had declined, and her high-risk nursing job became a threat. The couple took a leap of faith: they retired, sold their home and business, and left loving neighbors and old friends behind to move from Nashville into a 400-square-foot tiny house on the lake in quiet Tracy City. The next step was to build an art studio and begin the dream.
Anything and everything seems to find its way into Wells’ art, so do not be too surprised if you look closely. After all, there are about fifty years of art ideas trying to get out!
When not in her art studio, Wells keeps busy with yoga, gardening, knitting, reading, enjoying her new mountain friends, and being with family. The mountain has been good to her.
Tippen Harvey “Tippy” Anderson
Martha’s Art Classes with Sewanee Art Works have been a part of mountain life for Tippy since 2008. When visiting Sewanee, and now living in Sewanee, fun Martha became a muse for Tippy. Martha is encouraging, and has a good eye. Martha always sees that one item she needs and didn’t know it. Tippy enjoys both working with mixed media and singling out just one medium: water color, oils, pen and ink or pastels. Sometimes Tippy works on large pieces and sometimes she works on smaller pieces. Her favorite subjects are natural items, architecture, animals, people, or anything that interests her. Tippy’s goal, now that she’s here full-time in Sewanee, is to settle in and work more.
Lacy Camp
Lacy is a retired marriage and family therapist that began painting in retirement. At that point, she also became a docent at the Georgia Museum of Art and appreciated being exposed to a wide variety of artists and works of art. She and husband, Tom, moved to the mountain to be closer to their grandchildren after 40 years in Athens, GA. Lacy started painting with Martha in the fall of 2022. Lacy says that inspiration can come from anywhere - photos, a passing scene, someone else’s art or her own imagination. After all, art is life!
