Side by Side: Page Schley and Connie Keetle, A Mother-Daughter Exhibition
Reception: October 9, 2026 | 5-6:30 p.m.
Exhibition Dates: October 2-31, 2026
Frame Gallery is delighted to present "Side by Side: Page Schley and Connie Keetle, a Mother-Daughter Exhibition," on display from Friday, October 2, through Saturday, October 31.
Please join us for a reception honoring Page and Connie this Friday, October 9, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
The exhibition includes landscapes and florals, ranging in style from abstraction to realism. Working on canvas and paper, Page and Connie, two talented Sewanee artists, use a variety of media, including acrylics, oils, walnut ink, and Dr. Ph. Martin’s Tech Drawing ink.
While Page and Connie share a passion for creating art, each brings her own perspective and individual expression to her work. Together, their pieces offer a special look at the creative connection between two generations and the distinctive artistic voice of each woman.
Many of you already know Connie as one of our own FrameGals, and we are especially excited to welcome her mother, Page, to the gallery.
Fall Makers Market
Frame Gallery will host its Fall Makers Market on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Sewanee. Visitors can watch live demonstrations by local artists, shop for fall decor, and take part in two hands-on pumpkin craft activities, held inside the Studio and under the outdoor canopy, rain or shine.
The activities include:
Doodle-O’-Lantern: Join artist Linda Kerlin, known for her “Extreme Doodling” workshop at Frame Gallery, to create pumpkin designs inspired by traditional fall themes or something abstract. This activity is appropriate for all ages; children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants can bring their own pumpkin for $15 or buy one to decorate for $25.
Pumpkin Pansy Planters: Participants can create a pumpkin planter with owner Harriet Runkle. Frame Gallery will supply the pumpkins, soil, and pansies to make a fall planter to take home for $30 (or two for $45). To reduce waste, the gallery will send the discarded pumpkin pulp and seeds to the University Farm to feed their goats. Participants can also leave their pumpkin planters outdoors to feed local wildlife. This activity is appropriate for adults and children ages 12 and up.
Local artist demonstrations: Margaret Matens will be on-site making fall wreaths from natural materials, and Connie Keetle will be painting en plein air. Visitors can watch the artists at work, learn about their creative processes, and shop for fall wreaths and fine art paintings.
Registration by the end of the day Thursday, Oct. 15, is required for each pumpkin activity, offered in two sessions: 10:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2 p.m. No registration is needed to shop or watch the artist demonstrations.
The Make Art Like Great Artists Series Begins!
Our first Afterschool Art Crew session in the Studio at Frame Gallery was a hit! Harriet Runkle is teaching Make Art Like Great Artists, a monthly enrichment series for a local homeschool group.
In September, the Art Crew learned about paper-quilling artist Yulia Brodskaya and created colorful paper sculptures using quilling and other paper-folding techniques. In October, we’ll explore Yayoi Kusama’s work and take inspiration from her signature dots to decorate pumpkins and other objects in celebration of fall.
Interested in having Harriet teach a workshop, lead a birthday party, or plan a creative team-building activity? Send us a message. We’d love to hear what you have in mind!
